disguise drives the Eurovision Song Contest 2014

disguise systems were used to design, sequence and control the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

Held in Copenhagen, this year’s event saw two semi-finals and a final show broadcasted live on Saturday 10 May. The stage design by Claus Zier was reminiscent of a ship’s hull, reflecting Danish shipping history, and abstracted into a diamond shape which formed the contest’s logo.

Video elements of the stage included an interactive LED floor, a full LED wall backdrop as well as panels forming part of the cubic stage structure.

Designer was used to pre-visualise what content would look like far ahead of the show, helping content designers create their looks. A video of designer’s stage simulator can be found on youtube, showing part of Austria’s winning song by Conchita Wurst, ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’. Using designer’s timeline, the show was then sequenced and played back. The actual song from the live finals can be viewed here.

disguise would like to thank Mediatec Sweden and all involved to make this a successful show. A full case study with all credits and equipment will be posted to the disguise website soon, for more information please like our Facebook page.
