International luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton recently debuted their Spring/Summer 2020 Womenswear Ready-to-Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week, marking the end of a Global Fashion month. The iconic brand chose to host the show, inspired by French art and literature in the 1980s, at Cour Carre Du Louvre, Paris.

The set was based in the Louvre auditorium, with a minimalistic design purpose-built from sustainably sourced wood with seating, flooring and external cladding in pine panelling which was recycled after the show.

Across the backdrop featured a 39.5m x 9m video wall with a moving portal in the bottom centre of the screen to create an entrance for the catwalk. The video content featured Scottish producer SOPHIE performing on a cosmic background setting the scene for the show. To power the lavish visuals, Media Server consultant Andrew Doig selected a pair of disguise 4x4pro’s running a 4K feed over 5 outputs, which was operated by Nicholas di Fonzo.

The production also integrated lighting into the show design, running from a MA2 lighting desk, with lighting focused on the facades of the courtyard of the Louvre that surrounded the auditorium. Lighting was carefully programmed to compliment the video content and strobe effect lighting followed the video storm sequence.

Nicholas explains, “the video was used to adapt the static walk-in look of pinewood panelling to the environmental conditions which camouflaged the screen for audiences before the show started.”

He continues, “the disguise pre-visualisation was fundamental to ensure the customer was happy with the show design as the content developed from 2K to the final 10K version of the media.”
